The 2018 Warriors Parade starts in Downtown Oakland at 11 am, just hours from now. If you’re wondering what to expect, or you own a business and and didn’t get the memo, here’s your chance to catch up.
Oakland Distruct Two Councilmember Abel Guillen posted this livestream of Monday’s Oakland City Hall briefing for the business community about the Golden State Warriors Parade to celebrate the 2018 NBA Champions.
The livestream was embeded in this blog post with the permission of Councilmember Gullen:
As to the other items of information you should know, they are as follows:
Broadway Is Closed Starting At 3 AM To Traffic
That information came from the livestream briefing about the parade.
Why No Warriors Rally?
As to the why the rally isn’t happening this year: the Warriors didn’t want to host one this time, and it had nothing to do with money. Councilmember Guillen said he saw the cashed check from the team from 2017.
The Lake Chalet Is Open Early
The Lake Chalet at 1520 Lakeside Drive, the scene for many 2018 NBA Finals parties over the last two weeks (and one of my favoite haunts in Oakland) will be open early this morning at 8 am for “brunch and/or after the parade for Taco Tuesday and enjoy our new Tequila Pier Bar featuring E-40’s E.Quarenta tequila and Ceviche Tostadas!. “ Just go and tell them Zennie sent ya; some severs may say “who” but the managers will love it. They have no idea I’m giving them pub.
What’s An Interactive Parade?
A lot of people are wondering what the heck an “interactive” Warriors Parade will be? Aside from the players getting off busses and hanging with the crowd, which is what the Warriors said would happen, no one has any real idea what that means.
On Access To Lake Merritt BART
This year, there will be better pedestrial access to Lake Merritt BART off the parade route. Last year, crowds were backed-up. Oakland officials says that should not happen this time.
Have fun!
