Oakland News Now – The 2018 Art & Soul Festival took up all of Oakland City Center when it was held last weekend. That includes the under construction new office building 601 City Center.
The mammoth 601 City Center is Shorenstein Properties new addition to Oakland. Slated for completion in 2019, it has 400,000 square feet of Class A office space. It also effectively finishes Oakland City Center, as its the last large planned building to be built in the 30 year old complex.
For the Art & Soul Festival, 601 City Center combined with the Ask Building to form a kind of bookend stage for the concert set on the ground level. A celebration of Oakland’s new downtown as much as it was of the performers and the people who attended the event.
