AB 464 Ignored – Oakland City Council Would Rather Get High Than Get Money To Small Business
A month ago, the California Legislature passed AB 464, which allows the formation of Enhanced Infrastructure Financing Districts specifically for business assistance.
A month later and with Oakland businesses still in need of aide and help, and the COVID-19 Pandemic still with us due to a version called The Delta Variant, the City of Oakland has done nothing to implement AB 464.
But, Oakland Vice Mayor Rebecca Kaplan and District Three Councilmember Carroll Fife can find time to ask the City Council to push the California Legislature to pass a law called AB 1256.
AB 1256 is a much needed item of law that would, if passed, “prohibit employers in the state of California from discriminating against a person in hiring, termination, or any term or condition of employment on account of the fact that a drug screening test has found that person to have non-psychoactive cannabis metabolites in their urine, hair, or bodily fluids. ” Ok, that is fine, and as I said, needed. But it is also not yet law; AB 464 is.
I can’t help but ask why a pushing a law regarding weed is more important than implementing a law that allows the City of Oakland to get hundreds of millions to businesses within the City of Oakland?
It seems like getting high is more important than financially helping Oakland business.
Stay tuned.

Note from Zennie62Media’s Zennie62 YouTube and Oakland News Now Today Blog SF Bay Area: this video-blog post demonstrates the full and live operation of the latest updated version of an experimental Zennie62Media , Inc. mobile media video-blogging system network that was launched June 2018. This is a major part of Zennie62Media , Inc.’s new and innovative approach to the production of news media. What we call “The Third Wave of Media”. The uploaded video is from a vlogger with the Zennie62 on YouTube Partner Channel, then uploaded to and formatted automatically at the Oakland News Now site and Zennie62-created and owned social media pages. The overall objective is smartphone-enabled, real-time, on the scene reporting of news, interviews, observations, and happenings anywhere in the World and within seconds and not hours. Now, news is reported with a smartphone: no heavy and expensive cameras or even a laptop are necessary. The secondary objective is faster, and very inexpensive media content news production and distribution. We have found there is a disconnect between post length and time to product and revenue generated. With this, the problem is far less, though by no means solved. Zennie62Media is constantly working to improve the system network coding and seeks interested content and media technology partners.
