On Sunday, NFL Philadephia Eagles Wide Receiver DeSean Jackson posted quotes from, of all people, the late Adolf Hitler, and that were unkind to Jewish people. For reasons best known to himself, NBA Star Stephen Jackson elected to take to Instagram to post his support for DeSean Jackson, and then double-down on the former Cal Bears’s frankly racist comments.
This video-blog has Jackson’s video-blog comments and my response to them. It is better to watch and listen to the words rather than read them in text, because the text version lacks expressions and inflections that would cause one to understand what was said a different way.
But even then, some takes:
First, regarding Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan, I understand that some African Americans are drawn to his charismatic turn-of-phrase, but overall, he’s as divisive as Donald Trump. That leads to my second point.
Both Jacksons, Stephen Jackson and DeSean Jackson might as well have been paid by Donald Trump. They are off-message. The message should be to bring people together, not to divide them. Being Jewish is not a “race” of people, but an ethnicity. And my last name is Jewish, and I’m black.
