Oakland News Now – Allegiant Stadium’s first big sports event! Concacaf Gold Final 2021 in Las Vegas – video made by the YouTube channel in the video’s upper left hand corner.
Yesterday was the first big “post pandemic” sports event in the new Allegiant Stadium (and the first big sports event at this stadium – full stop – for me).
It was the Concacaf Gold Cup Soccer Final between USA and Mexico, which was a pretty spectacular opportunity to see this great new stadium in action. Also, an opportunity to catch something, but with the mandates in place, which people in general seemed to follow, let’s hope we’re ok there…
This video is a bit of a recap what I experienced arriving at the stadium that night. A few things I forgot to mention is that the “deep-reach” Wifi network was horrible and became pretty useless after a while. So, we were out of Wifi for most of the time. But, it did work at the gate for scanning the Ticketmaster ticket, which is a requirement now, since it is a dynamic ticket, which means it can’t be photocopied or screen-grabbed, and relies on having an active connection with the server. Having an internet connection at the gate therefore is critical!
Also, heard a lot of people complaining about arriving and parking at the stadium, but I drove a few exits further, parked 3 blocks from the stadium and walked the rest of the way without issue 🙂
