Ben Bartlett, Berkeley Councilmember Interview On Blockchain Financing

ONN – Ben Bartlett, Berkeley Councilmember Interview On Blockchain Financing

Berkeley District Three Councilmember Ben Bartlett sat down to join me, Zennie Abraham, in a conversation about what will be an innovative new form of municipal financing combining “micro-bonds” and blockchain.

What started the idea for Councilmember Bartlett was a desire to solve the homeless problem and put investment capabilities in the hands of Berkeley’s low-income citizens. During the course of trying to solve that problem, blockchain was mentioned in his office. But, when he announced the program idea, Councilmember Bartlett found that there were no shortage of true experts on blockchain who lived in Berkeley.

Bartlett: “You know this micro bonds as we call them, that nickname that’s coming up with investors. It’s meant to solve two things there right now: (First) all societies are faced with one and depressive deficit. (Second) that means there’s not much money to pay for
what happening and then also no money to transition into the new economy.”

The rest of the details are in our near 30 minute interview and also in this WIRED Magazine Interview, but you can reach out to his office for more information. Send an email to [email protected] or call at (510) 981-7130.

Stay tuned.

Oakland News Now Note: this video-blog post demonstrates the full and live operation of the latest version of an experimental Zennie62Media mobile media video-blogging system network. This is a major part of our new approach to the production of news media. The uploaded video is from a vlogger with the Zennie62 on YouTube Partner Channel, then uploaded to and formatted automatically at the Oakland News Now site and Zennie62-owned social media pages. The overall objective is smartphone-enabled, real-time, on the scene reporting of news, interviews, observations, and happenings anywhere in the World and within seconds and not hours. The secondary objective is faster, and very inexpensive media production and distribution. We have found there is a disconnect between post length and time to product and revenue generated. With this, the problem is far less, though by no means solved. Zennie62Media is constantly working to improve the system network coding and also seek interested content and media technology partners.
