Big Country Kitchen, Denica’s Real Food Kitchen, Mama’s Royal Cafe: Check, Please! Bay Area reviews

ONN – Oakland’s Mama’s Royal Cafe Reviewed By KQED’s Check, Please! Bay Area

Mama’s Royal Cafe, at 4012 Broadway in Oakland, has been an institution known for its omlettes since I was at Skyline High School from 1978 to 1980.  Unfortunately, the Oakland classic eatery is closed during the shelter-in-place, but that didn’t stop this review….

It’s time for a breakfast bonanza! Join Leslie Sbrocco and her Check, Please! Bay Area guests as they review deep-fried comforts at Big Country Kitchen in Concord, fusion plates made with love at Denica’s Real Food Kitchen in Castro Valley, and regal greasy spoon classics at Mama’s Royal Cafe in Oakland.

Check, Please! Bay Area Season 15, Episode 4, 2020.
Guests: Jeannie Powers, PK Phommachanh, Cory Sklar.

About Check, Please! Bay Area:

Check, Please! Bay Area features guests and eateries as diverse as the Bay Area itself. With each episode of the James Beard and Emmy Award–winning program, three local diners are cast as restaurant critics and share their favorite spots. After trying each other’s recommendations, they join host and moderator Leslie Sbrocco to discuss, dispute, and celebrate their dining experiences with lively commentary.

Whenever we get out of the economic straight-jacket we’re in, you have to pay a visit to Mama’s Royal Cafe.

Stay tuned.

Note from Zennie62Media and Oakland News Now: this video-blog post demonstrates the full and live operation of the latest updated version of an experimental Zennie62Media , Inc. mobile media video-blogging system network that was launched June 2018. This is a major part of Zennie62Media , Inc.’s new and innovative approach to the production of news media. What we call “The Third Wave of Media”. The uploaded video is from a vlogger with the Zennie62 on YouTube Partner Channel, then uploaded to and formatted automatically at the Oakland News Now site and Zennie62-created and owned social media pages. The overall objective is smartphone-enabled, real-time, on the scene reporting of news, interviews, observations, and happenings anywhere in the World and within seconds and not hours. Now, news is reported with a smartphone: no heavy and expensive cameras or even a laptop are necessary. The secondary objective is faster, and very inexpensive media content news production and distribution. We have found there is a disconnect between post length and time to product and revenue generated. With this, the problem is far less, though by no means solved. Zennie62Media is constantly working to improve the system network coding and seeks interested content and media technology partners.
