This Saturday, we pay tribute to the legendary Yaphet Kotto with a special triple-header event. Known for his powerful performances and commanding screen presence, Yaphet Kotto left an indelible mark on cinema history. One of the highlights of our presentation is the 1985 TV movie Playing With Fire, co-starring Gary Coleman and Cicely Tyson alongside Kotto. In this gripping drama, a teenage arsonist, played by Coleman, sets off a series of events that highlight family and community struggles. Unfortunately, Kotto’s directorial gem The Limit remains elusive, with no available releases beyond its theatrical debut. We are committed to finding this rare film and sharing it in the future. About the Cast: • Yaphet Kotto: Born on November 15, 1939, Yaphet Kotto was a versatile actor celebrated for his roles in Live and Let Die (1973) as the villain Dr. Kananga/Mr. Big, and Alien (1979) as Parker. Other notable credits include The Running Man (1987), Midnight Run (1988), and Across 110th Street (1972). Kotto passed away on March 15, 2021, leaving behind an unparalleled legacy in film and television. • Cicely Tyson: A trailblazer in Hollywood, Cicely Tyson is revered for her impactful roles that celebrated Black culture. With an illustrious career spanning over seven decades, Tyson earned an Oscar nomination for Sounder (1972) and won multiple Emmy Awards for works like The Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman (1974). She passed away on January 28, 2021, at the age of 96. • Gary Coleman: Best known for his role as Arnold Jackson in the TV series Diff’rent Strokes, Gary Coleman was a beloved star of the 1980s.
