City of Oakland Says Anyone, Including You, Can Submit A Coliseum Land Stadium Development Plan

The latest bit of news is an update from my previous post in a series on the matter of Ray Bobbitt’s African American Sports and Entertainment Group, and its endeavor to bring NFL Football back to Oakland. As you know, Ray’s group of black investors issued a formal bid for the Oakland Coliseum. Out of nowhere, came first Rick Tripp, then Floyd Kephart, to issue completing bids.

I was told that Oakland Councilmember Larry Reid played a role in getting both Rick and Floyd to the table. The problem is that both gentlemen have a checkered past in Oakland sports stadium development history. Kephart failed because, according to the City of Oakland, he did not have the capital he claimed to possess to start building a stadium for the Oakland Raiders. Rick Tripp could not provide proof his financing plan based on real-estate-transactions actually could work on paper or in the real world.

Now, an email to me from the City of Oakland said this:

Hey Zennie,

Technically yes, there’s nothing preventing you or anyone from submitting an unsolicited LOI to the City regarding the Coliseum site. However, the City still reserves the right to reject or dismiss any and all offers.

In other words, anyone, including you, can submit a plan or proposal. There’s no requirement for format or criteria, like how much capital you have, or anything. I do not believe this should be; there should be a website and a formal proposal format, and criteria.

This way looks too loosy-goosy for words. It leaves Oakland ripe for lawsuits and accusations of political impropriety.

Stay tuned.

Note from Zennie62Media’s Zennie62 YouTube and Oakland News Now Today Blog SF Bay Area: this video-blog post demonstrates the full and live operation of the latest updated version of an experimental Zennie62Media , Inc. mobile media video-blogging system network that was launched June 2018. This is a major part of Zennie62Media , Inc.’s new and innovative approach to the production of news media. What we call “The Third Wave of Media”. The uploaded video is from a vlogger with the Zennie62 on YouTube Partner Channel, then uploaded to and formatted automatically at the Oakland News Now site and Zennie62-created and owned social media pages. The overall objective is smartphone-enabled, real-time, on the scene reporting of news, interviews, observations, and happenings anywhere in the World and within seconds and not hours. Now, news is reported with a smartphone: no heavy and expensive cameras or even a laptop are necessary. The secondary objective is faster, and very inexpensive media content news production and distribution. We have found there is a disconnect between post length and time to product and revenue generated. With this, the problem is far less, though by no means solved. Zennie62Media is constantly working to improve the system network coding and seeks interested content and media technology partners.
