Comcast Outage Impacts Oakland, Internet And Xfinity Non-Operational For Some

Comcast Outage is Oakland? For the most part, yes.

Approximately two hours ago to this point in time, Comcast, the giant Internet Service Provider (ISP) and self-described “global telecommunications conglomerate headquartered in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania,” had a service outage that impacted major cities nationwide – including Oakland.

Comcast issued this statement via Twitter two hours ago:

“One of Comcast’s large backbone network partners had a fiber cut that we believe is also impacting other providers. It is currently affecting our business and residential internet, video and voice customers. We apologize & are working to get services restored as soon as possible.”

As for Oakland itself, from Twitter tweets, it seems that some Oaklanders were effected at first, then it spread, but in total, the entries on the social media site were not of a large number.

Lunch Box Oakland , the family-owned delicatessen at 1720 Franklin Street, reported this via tweet two hours ago: “the sun must be up because Comcast is down
we have no Internet and no phones but we are open Lunch Box Oakland.”

Then a tweet reporting no outage, but before the Lunch Box Oakland tweet:

And then this tweet from Tim Ware:

On Facebook, there were no local reports of an Oakland Comcast outage.

Stay tuned.
