Nancy O’Malley Endorses Sheng Thao For Oakland City Council District 4

Oakland, CA – Alameda County District Attorney Nancy O’Malley endorses Sheng Thao for Oakland City Council District 4.

Sheng Thao issues this statement:

“Thank you to District Attorney Nancy O’Malley for her endorsement of our campaign! She and I share a commitment to getting illegal guns off our streets, responsive community policing, and reducing crime. If elected, I have pledged to work with her on issues of importance to our community including combating human trafficking, and violence against women. As the mother of a young son nothing matters more to me than keeping our kids and our community safe.”

District Attorney O’Malley joins a broad base of supporters backing Sheng Thao for Oakland District 4, including Oakland Firefighters, California Nurses, National Healthcare Workers, Sierra Club, League of Conservation Voters of the East Bay, Oakland Chamber of Commerce, and including the below:

Daniel Swafford, who is the Executive Director of the Montclair and Laurel Business Associations and community volunteer for over 15 years, endorsed Sheng Thao’s candidacy for Oakland City Council District 4.

In a video, Swafford urge voters of District 4 to vote for Sheng Thao, stating, “…we really need someone that represents us on City Council that can advocate for our neighborhoods. That can take a strong position in supporting the project priorities that we have, on the ground, in District 4. We need someone who knows City Hall, and Sheng is someone who has proven to get work done, be effective and deliver results.” See the full video here: https://youtu.be/ng36CbH6CpQ

East Bay Express stated, “…Thao was the most prepared council candidate we interviewed this fall. Her command of the many issues facing Oakland is impressive, and we think she could step into the job and be successful on Day One.”

Berkeley Mayor Jesse Arreguin says, “I am proud to endorse Sheng Thao for Oakland City Council. Her years of service in City Hall and her commitment to progressive action will help move Oakland forward. She knows that regional collaboration is essential in addressing Oakland’s critical challenges. I look forward to working in partnership with her.”
