Donald Trump Jr. and Ben Shapiro would have you believe that Texas Senator Ted Cruz can do nothing about the Texas Winter Storm because, well, he’s a senator. Or, as Trump Jr. said, “He’s a legislator”! Obviously, neither Donald or Ben, or many of you, ever knew of 12-term Texas Representative Charlie Wilson.
Charlie Wilson, who passed away in 2010, was known as a good-time, party guy. A man who loved a drink in the morning and beautiful women. Then, a wealthy Texas socialite friend of his named Joanne Herring buttoned him about the Afghanistan war against the Soviet Union, a war they believed they could win, if they had guns.
Charlie Wilson established, and eventually with others in Congress, what became and still is the largest covert military operation in history.
And Charlie Wilson was a Democrat.
The point is, if Charlie Wilson (who was said to be a man of little consequence) can do all of that as a congressman for a foreign war, then don’t tell me Senator Ted Cruz can’t assemble people in business and government to help the people of the State of Texas get power, water, and heat during a winter storm.
