Elaine Brown Black Panther Legend Quit Dave Stewart Oakland Coliseum Bid Team – Undisclosed Reason
The note sent to me went like this:
Dear Ms. Lake,
Pursuant to our conversation of earlier today, and on behalf of myself as an individual and as CEO of Oakland & The World Enterprises, and on behalf of McCormack Baron Salazar, and its President and CEO Vince Bennett, this is to inform you that we are no longer affiliated with the Dave Stewart and Lonnie Murray proposal regarding the 50 percent interest in the Coliseum.
Sincerely yours,
Elaine Brown
And with that note to Betsy Lake, City of Oakland Assistant City Administrator, the Stewart Property Group LLC organization that was formed by Lonnie Murray and with her husband Oakland A’s Legend Dave Stewart, took another hit – the loss of their second partner. The first one was a man in Maryland who put together a proposal that centered on a claim of having built a development that did not exist. This time, the departure of Elaine Brown was more damaging. Moreover, the Oakland City Council Committee hearing on the Coliseum matter is at 1:30 PM today.
And on top of all of that was the horrible presentation Dave Stewart and Lonnie Murray gave at Oakland Councilmember Treva Reid’s online town hall event Monday. Ms. Murray had not practiced her presentation for a ZOOM audience, and so could not locate the right controls to bring up images! It was totally painful to watch, but you can do so right here, and at the 48 minute mark:
The bad show also demonstrates why a request for proposals process is always necessary: to make the development teams present competent, complete, proposals from the start. A detailed request for proposals document would have provided the right blueprint for Dave Stewart and Lonnie Murray, but without one, well, we see what can happen.
Dave Stewart Has Had A Hard Time Finding Development Partners For The Coliseum Land Competition
The loss of Brown and her controversial development partner McCormack Baron Salazar (which is the focus of a class-action lawsuit by black tenants in San Francisco), would seem to pave the way for the City Council to give the exclusive negotiating agreement to The African American Sports and Entertainment Group. It was the AASEG that first embarked on the path toward ownership of the City’s half of the Coliseum back in September of 2020. But, and for reasons best known to herself, Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf insisted on what in my opinion was and is a sham competition done to please the Oakland A’s.
It was known that the main focus of the African American Sports and Entertainment Group was bringing NFL Football back to Oakland. The Oakland A’s presented a proposal for the Coliseum that centered on the demolition of the Coliseum Stadium, and without replacement. Then, Oakland A’s President Dave Kaval repeatedly said to me during my broadcasts that he did not see where an NFL Stadium could fit at the Coliseum, when parking needs were considered. That, even though there are designs for Coliseum City that have a stadium for the NFL and parking.
To me, the whole deal with Dave Stewart came up because, behind the scenes, the A’s and Major League Baseball don’t want the NFL back in Oakland and competing for the SF Bay Area sports dollar. Not that the City of Oakland is making any moves in that direction, though it should.
Stay tuned for updates.

Note from Zennie62Media and OaklandNewsNow.com : this video-blog post demonstrates the full and live operation of the latest updated version of an experimental Zennie62Media , Inc. mobile media video-blogging system network that was launched June 2018. This is a major part of Zennie62Media , Inc.’s new and innovative approach to the production of news media. What we call “The Third Wave of Media”. The uploaded video is from a YouTube channel. When the video is “liked” by Zennie62 YouTube, then it is automatically uploaded to and formatted automatically at the Oakland News Now site and Zennie62-created and owned social media pages. The overall objective here, on top of our is smartphone-enabled, real-time, on the scene reporting of news, interviews, observations, and happenings anywhere in the World and within seconds and not hours – is the use of the existing YouTube social graph on any subject in the World. Now, news is reported with a smartphone and also by promoting current content on YouTube: no heavy and expensive cameras or even a laptop are necessary, or having a camera crew to shoot what is already on YouTube. The secondary objective is faster, and very inexpensive media content news production and distribution. We have found there is a disconnect between post length and time to product and revenue generated. With this, the problem is far less, though by no means solved. Zennie62Media is constantly working to improve the system network coding and seeks interested content and media technology partners.
