From Oakland to Atlanta. The mass shooting in Atlanta, where eight people were murdered by a real messed up dude who blamed Asian women for his sexual problems (a hate crime if there ever was one), a 21 year old white man named Robert Aaron Long, have shaken Oakland. (It also shook me too. Vlogging or blogging about it has been something I subconciously avoided, I realized. And I supposed I could have passed the vlog hat for responses – and I will do that.)
As part of the process of healing, Oakland City Council President Nikki Fortunado Bas announced an event that’s tonight at 5:30 PM at Madison Park. It’s called From Oakland To Atlanta: On Our Minds, In Our Hearts. Here’s the details of a happening that 520 people have said they will attend.

Stay tuned.Join us Tuesday evening, March 23rd at 5:30pm at Madison Square Park in Oakland’s historic Chinatown neighborhood for “From Oakland to Atlanta,” a community-led vigil to mourn and honor the lives taken in the Atlanta-area spa shootings. Tuesday will mark the one week anniversary of the murders of those 8 lives lost, 6 of whom were Asian women. In addition to those 8 lives, we also carry the sorrow and grief from recent, patterned attacks on Oakland’s Asian and Pacific Islander elders. To remember each life, we invite you to bring any of the following:-candles
