The first round of the election saw the party making significant gains, followed by a left-wing alliance and President Emmanuel Macron’s centrist coalition. “We don’t have a choice, we don’t have much choice between less extreme people and those who are opposed to the centre-left, and that is essentially the government,” voter Phillipe said. Meanwhile, Corrine Levy, a veterinarian from Annecy, shared worries about the possibility of the National Rally gaining an absolute majority and said, “I am worried because we say to ourselves that in any case, we must not let the National Rally pass. That’s all, otherwise we won’t be able to govern, and what’s more, it’s tragic.
