Frank Somerville Suspended By KTVU Update – Did He Use Gabby Petito Race Issue To Get Advantage Over News Station?
The latest on the Frank Somerville situation from the perspective of Rich Lieberman’s blog is that there’s “staff fatigue “ over at the Jack London Square office. Well, here’s what Rich blogged:
There’s resentment over Frank Somerville; staff feel he’s selfish and used the race issue to better his own situation; still 50/50 on his return. But come contract re-up in March/’22, he’s probably a goner. My feeling, and this is shared by other contacts I talked to is Frank can’t co-exist with the current management team and vice versa.
KTVU, as I reported, is in a can’t win situation. If they 86 him, (Frank) then they’ll have a terrible situation with the minority community (they already do) and it’ll be seen as them flipping off an important demo and especially in the diverse Bay Area market. If they bring him back, then it’ll be only on a lame duck status; he will probably be GONE in March, ’22.
