It means more Canadian crude oil is now being shipped from Alberta to B.C.’s coast, nearly tripling its flow of oil and expanding access to lucrative global markets beyond the U.S. But while the new pipeline may be pumping, Ottawa’s intention to divest raises questions about how long the infrastructure will be profitable as the world works to transition away from fossil fuels.
