GDC 2020 Game Developers Conference Postponed Due To Coronavirus As Facebook, Sony, Pull Out

ONN – GDC 2020 Game Developers Conference Postponed Due To Coronavirus As Facebook, Sony, Other Firms Pull Out.

One of San Francisco’s major conventions, the GDC 2020 Game Developers Conference, has been postponed until the summer due to a large number of major firms pulling out of it.

This was posted at the GDC 2020 website:

After close consultation with our partners in the game development industry and community around the world, we’ve made the difficult decision to postpone the Game Developers Conference that was to happen this March 16th-March 20th.

Having spent the past year preparing for the show with our advisory boards, speakers, exhibitors, and event partners, we’re genuinely upset and disappointed not to be able to host you at this time .

We want to thank all our customers and partners for their support, open discussions and encouragement. As everyone has been reminding us, great things happen when the community comes together and connects at GDC. For this reason, we fully intend to host a GDC event later in the summer. We will be working with our partners to finalize the details and will share more information about our plans in the coming weeks.

The original Facebook post announced that Sony, Facebook, Unity, Microsoft, Kojima Productions, Epic Games, and more firms jumped ship. An unprecedented event.

Game Developers Conference has announced that payment for passes will be refunded, and that speakers will be given the option of posting their talks as YouTube videos.

Stay tuned for more information on the postponing of GDC 2020.

Note from Zennie62Media and Oakland News Now: this video-blog post demonstrates the full and live operation of the latest updated version of an experimental Zennie62Media , Inc. mobile media video-blogging system network that was launched June 2018. This is a major part of Zennie62Media , Inc.’s new and innovative approach to the production of news media. What we call “The Third Wave of Media”. The uploaded video is from a vlogger with the Zennie62 on YouTube Partner Channel, then uploaded to and formatted automatically at the Oakland News Now site and Zennie62-created and owned social media pages. The overall objective is smartphone-enabled, real-time, on the scene reporting of news, interviews, observations, and happenings anywhere in the World and within seconds and not hours. Now, news is reported with a smartphone: no heavy and expensive cameras or even a laptop are necessary. The secondary objective is faster, and very inexpensive media content news production and distribution. We have found there is a disconnect between post length and time to product and revenue generated. With this, the problem is far less, though by no means solved. Zennie62Media is constantly working to improve the system network coding and seeks interested content and media technology partners.
