Oakland News Now – Grand Avenue between Perkins and Park View Terrace in Oakland near Lake Merritt has needed some form of traffic control for years.
Well, decades, as cars moving from the Oakland hills to Downtown Oakland have routinely passed through the Adams Point Commercial District like it’s a speedway pit stop. Now it finally has traffic control lights – but they are not turned on!
What good are traffic lights of they don’t activate?
Still, at least the Oakland Department of Transportation has gotten as far as building the light installations. There are three of them on Grand Avenue and at Bellevue, Ellis, and Lenox.
When they are all finally turned on, we will see a true slow down of traffic and a safer Grand Avenue in Oakland.
Stay tuned.
