Cat Brooks Lands Sole Endorsement Of Wellstone Democratic Club In Oakland Mayoral Race

Oakland News Now – Cat Brooks earned the Sole Endorsement Of The Wellstone Democratic Club in the 2018 Oakland Mayoral Race.

Brooks beat the incumbent Mayor Libby Schaaf and challengers Pamela Price, and Saied Kamarooz to gain the sole endorsement of the largest democratic club in Oakland and the East Bay. Buy why didn’t Mayor Schaaf win?

What reportedly threw Mayor Schaaf’s path to a win off was the perception that she was a bit angry. One Wellstone member explained that it may have had to do with a membership snaffu where the Mayor could not cast a vote herself. But at least Libby was there because some in the organization, which has a political leaning that some see as radical left, did not expect her to show up at all.

For her part, Cat Brooks said “I’m honored and humbled to receive this critical endorsement by Wellstone. Oakland is ready for real progressives committed to real change not just lip service and rhetoric. That’s what the people’s campaign is about: actual solutions for critical issues that benefit every single Oaklander. ”

Stay tuned.
