Oakland – The Insight Terminal Solutions OBOT Bulk Terminal just got a new gift: a low-emissions train for climate change.
Phil Tagami posted this news on his Facebook page just a few hours ago, this morning. (Note: Tagami explains “OGRE is seperate and apart from ITS and OBOT but would like to serve both.”)
California Capital Investment Group is grateful to the Bay Area Air Quality Management District (BAAQMD) Community Health Protection Grant program and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) National Clean Diesel Funding Assistance Program for their continued support and progress making this new less polluting, tier 4 locomotive purchase possible for the Oakland Global Rail Enterprise (OGRE) and West Oakland Pacific Rail (WOPR) Joint Venture.
The OGRE/WOPR rail operation was instrumental for Oakland to obtain a $242 million dollar infrastructure grant approved by the State of California Transportation Commission, California Air Resources Board in 2012, and administered through Caltrans Division of Rail, as well as a $41 million dollar grant from the Alameda County Transportation Commission in 2016.
Equally important to the infrastructure grants is ensuring OGRE/WOPR provides compliant utility with this new locomotive.
We thank our entire team at OGRE/ WOPR and other strategic partners, like the Port of Oakland, and Oakland City Council President Rebecca Kaplan for making this possible.
This is a major milestone. This new rail car proves that technology can play a giant role in solving the climate change problem, while working to utimately maintain thousands of jobs, and even establish many new ones.
Once again, Phil Tagami has stepped in to help Oakland.
