ONN – Insight Terminal Solutions OBOT Was Part Of Oakland Sharing The Vision Plan In 1991

“OBOT” refers to the Oakland Bulk and Oversized Terminal development project slated to be built near the Bay Bridge toll plaza.

The OBOT is actually a long talked about bulk terminal concept that has been in Oakland’s collective economic development vision for 30 years. Insight Terminal Solutions has collaborated with California Capital Investment Group to build OBOT.

It’s important for Oaklanders to know the truth about Insight Terminal Solutions OBOT, because there’s an effort to tell two completely false stories: 1) that it’s a coal-only terminal, 2) that the City of Oakland didn’t know that coal was to be part of the commodity mix until 2015, when records and documents obtained show that the City of Oakland itself was directly involved in the development of the OBOT since its inception in 2009, but then worked to hide the truth after it became politically-advantageous to do so, and 3) that OBOT was designed to be environmentally sensitive, not polluting.

Rather than focus on improving the OBOT to meet more demanding environmental standards, as has been done with cars, some in Oakland have sought to get rid of OBOT, and the basic-industry jobs that it would produce. Zennie62Media was hired by ITS to get out the correct OBOT story.

Stay tuned.

Note from Oakland News Now Technical: this video-blog post shows the full and live operation of the latest updated version of an experimental Zennie62Media mobile media video-blogging system network that was launched June 2018. This is a major part of Zennie62Media’s new and innovative approach to the production of news media. The uploaded video is from a vlogger with the Zennie62 on YouTube Partner Channel, then uploaded to and formatted automatically at the Oakland News Now site and Zennie62-owned social media pages. The overall objective is smartphone-enabled, real-time, on the scene reporting of news, interviews, observations, and happenings anywhere in the World and within seconds and not hours. Now, news is reported with a smartphone: no heavy and expensive cameras or even a laptop are necessary. The secondary objective is faster, and very inexpensive media production and distribution. We have found there is a disconnect between post length and time to product and revenue generated. With this, the problem is far less, though by no means solved. Zennie62Media is constantly working to improve the system network coding and seeks interested content and media technology partners.
