Oakland News Now – Jameis Winston Said “Crab Legs Given To Me, Not Stolen” In Jim Harbaugh Interview From 2015 – video made by the YouTube channel with the logo in the video’s upper left hand corner.
On Twitter and social media, some users of burner accounts (defined as anonymous Twitter accounts) to tweet lies about Jameis Winston’s past. One of the lies is that he stole crab legs from a market while a student-athlete at Florida State University.
One Twitter account holder wrote that Winston confessed to the action when he was caught on camera. That’s a complete lie. As the video above shows, Winston not only said the crab legs were given to him, he said that after the worker gave them to him, he did walk out because the worker told him they were free; someone saw the football star leave without paying for them and complained. (Video said to exist only shows Winston walking with the crab legs, not stealing them – in other words, there’s no video shown of him just picking up crab legs, which are stored in a place only workers are allowed to go to – not Winston or you or me.)
Here’s where racism came in from and center: Winston was 17 and already considered a football star on campus. The store worker supposedly was a fan of Winston. The store workers and managers knew of his stardom. They could have used the misunderstanding to secure Jameis Winston as a spokesperson, but they stupidly went to present him as a criminal. The worker who gave him the crab legs feared losing his job, so did not back Winston, but Winston’s friend who was there when the worker said he would give him the crab legs for free, did.
If Winston were white, it’s more likely the store would have given him a pass as telling a true story, and worked out something. The media would have been more in his corner. I personally know this because I saw Michigan’s NFL-bound star offensive tackle Taylor Lewan get kid-glove treatment at his NFL Draft press conference after he was taken in the 1st round by the Tennessee Titans.
Zennie Abraham Stops NFL Draft Press’ Kid Glove Treatment Of White Draftees Who Were Arrested – The Taylor Lewan Incident
Lewan was arrested for a violent assault on two Ohio State students in the wake of their loss the previous year. The court date for the case was pushed back to after the 2014 NFL Draft. Well, at the Draft, the NFL Media that wasted no time asking black players about their arrests record in college, or any news about bad behavior, if any, was notoriously silent when Taylor Lewan came out.
How I know this was because I was there and I have video to prove it. Taylor Lewan was said to have a temper like now Las Vegas Raiders Offensive Guard Richie Incognito. But the press was scared to bring it up – not me:
And here’s the press conference, again, from my Zennie62 YouTube Channel:
After Taylor was done, the NFL Press went back to its habitual practice of asking black NFL Draft picks about bad news from their college playing days. I told one black NFL Draft pick that if the press was not going to ask Taylor about his arrest, why should they ask him about any negatives he had? I told him to say nothing.
Back To Winston And The Crab Legs
Moreover, it seems the real story was that Winston knew he made a mistake by accepting the gift of food. It is an NCAA violation for athletes to receive free goods and services. One could lose their right to play. Certainly Winston feared that. But the fact is, sports stars on campuses are not as of this writing paid to play – they should be. They should also be paid for the use of their name and likeness. The shame of America is in how it treats its athletes – specially its black stars. Like slaves.
That’s one aspect of the Jameis Winston Florida State Story that’s ignored. The other is that Erika Kinsman herself did not tell the truth about her drunken sexual encounter with Winston while the two were FSU freshmen. According to accounts, she was already drunk when she went into the Jacksonville bar and eventually met Winston, but not so out of it that she did not know to text her friend Monica and ask if she thought she should go with the FSU QB and his friends back to their place. Monica said yes and so Erika Kinsman went with Winston. The players accounts were that she was sexually aggressive and ordered them to leave the room.
Winston gave her a ride home, but the next day she forgot exactly what happened. From there, her story changed many times.
In all of this, we had publications like The Washington Post writing about Winston’s crab legs story. One has to ask simply this: why? Why did The Daily Caller, a conservative blog, take interest in Jameis Winston? Why were so many right wing publications eager to bring down Winston? Is it because, in being called “The chosen one” Winston was a threat to the idea that a great quarterback must be white? If so, the episode is a testament to the idea that racism is a mental illness.
Here’s the account from the video:
Jameis Winston spoke with and members of his staff.
Harbaugh pushed Winston to explain the incident in which he was caught on a security camera taking crab legs from a Publix grocery store.
Winston explains that he wasn’t shoplifting, but rather had a deal with a Publix employee where he was gifted free food.
While who knows how true or not this is, it does seem to make sense. Winston and FSU coach Jimbo Fisher couldn’t say that he was being gifted free food, because that could be construed as a violation of NCAA rules, so it made more sense to frame it as a juvenile mistake. Fisher memorably said that Winston wasn’t used to shopping at that supermarket and had been distracted when carrying out the crab legs.
Stay tuned.

The overall objective here, on top of our is smartphone-enabled, real-time, on the scene reporting of news, interviews, observations, and happenings anywhere in the World and within seconds and not hours – is the use of the existing YouTube social graph on any subject in the World. Now, news is reported with a smartphone and also by promoting current content on YouTube: no heavy and expensive cameras or even a laptop are necessary, or having a camera crew to shoot what is already on YouTube. The secondary objective is faster, and very inexpensive media content news production and distribution. We have found there is a disconnect between post length and time to product and revenue generated. With this, the problem is far less, though by no means solved. Zennie62Media is constantly working to improve the system network coding and seeks interested content and media technology partners.
