Janet Nova, who’s worked as a lawyer for 21st Century Fox and News Corporation for a total of 20 years, joins the National Football League. Here’s the NFL’s statement:

The National Football League has named Janet Nova Deputy General Counsel for Media and League Business Affairs. Nova joins the NFL after spending over 20 years at 21st Century Fox and its predecessor company, News Corporation.

As NFL Deputy General Counsel for Media and League Business Affairs, Nova will lead the media and business affairs teams within the NFL’s legal department and she will partner with our media, sponsorship, consumer products and our other revenue businesses. Nova will be based out of the NFL’s New York office, where she will report to Jeff Pash, the NFL’s Executive Vice President and General Counsel. She joins current Deputy General Counsels Jay Bauman (Legal and Business Affairs) and Larry Faranzi (Labor Relations).

“We are pleased to have Janet on board as Deputy General Counsel,” said Commissioner Roger Goodell. “She’ll provide our legal department with a unique skill set and joins a strong senior team. We look forward to welcoming her to the League office in New York.”

“We are delighted to welcome Janet Nova to the NFL,” said Pash. “Janet has an extensive legal background and comes from a multinational media corporation, which makes her an ideal fit for this position.”

Most recently, Nova served as Executive Vice President and Deputy Group General Counsel of 21st Century Fox and led 21st Century Fox’s legal team in major corporate transactions, as well as managing corporate governance – working with senior management and the Board of Directors at 21st Century Fox on each of these matters.

Nova is a graduate of Princeton University and Columbia University School of Law and began her legal career at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett.

Note from Oakland News Now Technical: this video-blog post shows the full and live operation of the latest updated version of an experimental Zennie62Media mobile media video-blogging system network that was launched June 2018. This is a major part of Zennie62Media’s new and innovative approach to the production of news media. The uploaded video is from a vlogger with the Zennie62 on YouTube Partner Channel, then uploaded to and formatted automatically at the Oakland News Now site and Zennie62-owned social media pages. The overall objective is smartphone-enabled, real-time, on the scene reporting of news, interviews, observations, and happenings anywhere in the World and within seconds and not hours. Now, news is reported with a smartphone: no heavy and expensive cameras or even a laptop are necessary. The secondary objective is faster, and very inexpensive media production and distribution. We have found there is a disconnect between post length and time to product and revenue generated. With this, the problem is far less, though by no means solved. Zennie62Media is constantly working to improve the system network coding and seeks interested content and media technology partners.
