I met Georgia Congressman John Lewis briefly at San Diego Comic Con, and at the Marriott Marquis Hotel. I had just finished dinner at the main restaurant, saw him walk by with his staff, and rushed over to introduce myself, thank him for all he has done, and get a quick interview. Well, I did not get that, and only because he was really exhausted. Comic Con takes a lot out of anyone.
But more important was what Lewis was doing there.
John Lewis was taking his message to a Comic Con audience – to promote his memoir, “March: Book Three.” That included a march that was a reminder of the Selma March for Freedom:
John Lewis never stopped pushing the American Experiment. It’s hard to believe he’s gone. And, once again, a black man was taken by pancreatic cancer. That must stop.
