The new post-Frank Somerville suspension drama comes to us from Oakland media blogger Rich Lieberman, friend from Bret Harte Junior High School and Skyline High School days. (I will never forget how Lieberman got me on the court to photograph Billie Jean King vs. Margaret Court at the Coliseum Arena, when we were on the Skyline High Titans newspaper staff. Fun times. And talk about hutzpah! ) Anyway, leave it to the Oakland media blogger to have more juicy gossip about KTVU Channel 2 after he burnished his image by nailing the Frank Somerville news. Here’s the latest, in Rich’s own words.
CHRIS NOHR, HR BOSS at KTVU OUT.
The HR czar had been at KTVU since 1989 and is widely detested and frowned upon. I heard Fox might have nudged her out the door and called it a retirement. Nohr was offered a decent settlement because corporate didn’t want to have any issues arise out of giving the heave-ho to a veteran Bay Area management figure at its O and O.
Itv was Nohr that was the key figure in installing the almsot THIRTY surveillence cameras in and around KTVU and who administered the stiff and rigorous penalties taking place if/when an employee was deemed insubordinate, including Frank Somerville himself. (Still suspended).
Recently, FOX sent an internal crew to Oakland to see and hear what the hell was going on at KTVU and now Nohr is OUT. Coincidence? You be the judge.
Again, looks like Fox is spinning this as a “retirement.”
And Then Anchor Mike Mibach Wants Out Of KVTU, Too
Rich:
Mike Mibach is so FED UP with dealing with morning irritants (Gasia Mikaelian and certain staff) that he’s itching to get the PM anchor gig; he’s so ANGRY that he hasn’t ruled out a concerted effort to SPLIT KTVU and head for another station. Mibach has stopped yelling in his car but he does not like working with Gasia and it’s reached the boiling point.
Rich Says CNN’s Chris Cuomo, Now Fired, Was At Perry’s In The Marina District Before He Was Canned
And the next item from Rich is interesting, but I trust his track record:
*Chris Cuomo and his wife split Perry’s Friday night –knew he was about to get fired at CNN the next day–after careful thought, left and went across the bay to Walnut Creek and hung out with his buddy, Max, the owner of Massimo. It’s a sort of media/Italian/NY genre place in downtown; the last place I’d expect to see Chris Cuomo but what the hell.
Well, as a friend of mine, Cal Alum Pia Peirera, once said, “Everyone comes to play in San Francisco”. Next time, send Chris and the Ms. to Oakland to play at The Alley at 3325 Grand Avenue.
That written, Perry’s in the SF Marina District is at 1944 Union Street, San Francisco. Here’s the website!
And Rich, I don’t think KTVU kept Amber Eikel, the news director, because she’s a woman – maybe it’s because she does what they want in a leader?
Give her some props, dude. Why be sexist? Stop, my friend.
Stay tuned.
