Leigh Steinberg Gives Cal Stanford 2018 Big Game Prediction

ONN – Leigh Steinberg Gives Cal Stanford 2018 Big Game Prediction

The scene was this blogger on the way to watch the 121st Cal / Stanford Big Game (which should be called “Stanford at Cal Big Game” because the Stanford Cardinal was the visiting team) when a person patted me on the back and said “Zennie.”

It was my long time friend and famed Sports Agent Leigh Steinberg. If you don’t know who Leigh is, he basically created the field of sports athlete representation as we know it today.

For him, it started when he was a law student at what is now called The Berkeley Law School, but was called Boalt Hall School of Law in 1973. He took on the case of a friend of his who just happened to be Steve Bartkowski. Leigh went on to sign the Cal QB to a then-record contract for an NFL player.

From there, Leigh built his business out of his home then at 140 Panoramic Way in Berkeley, before moving to Newport Beach, California. Over that time, he’s represented the top NFL quarterback in the NFL Draft many times, from Troy Aikman to Steve Young, and currently represents Paxton Lynch and Patrick Mahomes.

Leigh and his then-agent-staffer Scott Parker helped me promote my Super Bowl Oakland Bid from 1999 to 2001. Leigh was also involved in a number of efforts to keep sports teams in the towns that hosted them for so long. The San Francisco Giants and Oakland A’s, being two of many examples.

As for his and my Big Game predictions, we were both wrong: Stanford won 23 to 13, and retain the Axe for the ninth year in a row.

Stay tuned.
