Marc Benioff, the Salesforce CEO who zennie62media CEO Zennie Abraham says owes Oakland a basketball team after he helped move the Warriors to San Francisco, is paying for the City of Oakland’s new Homeless Policy Director, Peter Radu. Here’s the press release.
Oakland CA – Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf named Peter Radu as her Homeless Policy Director effective Dec. 9, 2019.
Radu will serve as the mayor’s chief policy advisor to address the city’s homeless crisis. Radu will also serve as Mayor Schaaf’s representative in key local, regional, and statewide efforts, including Governor Newsom’s Council of Regional Homeless Advisors, where Mayor Schaaf is the Bay Area representative.
“Peter’s hands-on experience in the field and innovative work as a policy expert will assist our relentless effort to end homelessness in Oakland through compassion and creativity,” Mayor Libby Schaaf said. “Peter’s proven ability to solve complex problems and deliver results will benefit all Oaklanders, and particularly our unsheltered neighbors.”
Radu served as the Homeless Services Coordinator for the City of Berkeley, where he led the opening of the STAIR Center. He holds master’s degrees in Social Welfare and Public Policy from UC Berkeley and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Stanford University.
“I am honored to serve my neighbors in Oakland and humbled by the challenge we face,” Radu said. “Solutions will not appear overnight, but we will work with urgency every day to create new pathways to housing for all unsheltered residents.”
Funding for the position was made possible by a grant from Marc and Lynne Benioff.
