ONN – Mayor Schaaf Says Police Chief Not Asked To Resign, Just Fake News By Opponents
A very upset Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf called me to say that the news published in this space that she asked for Oakland Police Chief Anne Kirkpatrick’s resignation were false news, and “nothing more than fake news by my opponents”, Mayor Schaaf said.
The report written was “that this blogger was told by two sources that Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf was approached by Oakland Police Chief Anne Kirkpatrick, who asked for a raise as per her contract. Mayor Schaaf refused her request. The Chief balked, and threatened to resign, so Mayor Schaaf asked her to do so. If true, This will end a short but controversial stint as head cop for Oakland, and the City’s first female police chief.”
Oakland Councilmember Rebecca Kaplan had this to say about the first report “The chaos in this mayoral administration is hurting Oakland. We’ve lost so many key leaders that vital needs for our public are not being handled.”
Stay tuned.
