ONN – Mike Florio And Chris Sims Are Wrong About Gus Bradley As Raiders Defensive Coordinator. Here’s Why.

Not sure why Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio and Chris Simms felt the need to come to the defense of the Las Vegas Raiders hiring former San Diego Chargers Defensive Coordinator Gus Bradley, but they did.

Moreover, their defense of the former Seattle Seahawks Defensive Coordinator was really weak. They said he was the “mastermind” of the Seattle Defense. Well, Pete Carroll was the real “mastermind” , and insisted on drafting safeties and corners that were tall and fast, and within what was a variation of the “Rip / chLiz” coverage used by Alabama under Nick Saban.

But there was Chris Simms chortling on about how the Seattle Defense was based on the Tampa 2! That was totally wrong.

The fact that the Seattle Defense performed well after Gus Bradley’s departure tells all you need to know about the claim that Bradley was a “mastermind”.

Please.

They also talked as if the Raiders Defense was unchanged from 2019 into 2020, when the Raiders rebuilt their defense to be faster, with speedier linebackers. Cory Littleton and Nick Kwiatkoski were free agent finds that were billed as faster than the group in 2019. Overall, the Raiders changed 60 percent of their defensive personnel, with an eye toward keeping up with Kansas City’s Offense. Players were not the problem – scheme and technique were.

The Raiders used defenses that gave up too much in yardage due to occasional use of wide tackle split four-man fronts. But, I will give it to Paul Guenther, for the first six games, the Raiders Defense was improved, then a combination of more video data gathered and used by opponents as the season wore on, and COVID and injuries took over, with bad defensive design, and the performance dropped off.

Eventually, Paul was fired.

Stay tuned.

Note from Zennie62Media and Oakland News Now: this video-blog post demonstrates the full and live operation of the latest updated version of an experimental Zennie62Media , Inc. mobile media video-blogging system network that was launched June 2018. This is a major part of Zennie62Media , Inc.’s new and innovative approach to the production of news media. What we call “The Third Wave of Media”. The uploaded video is from a YouTube channel. When the video is “liked” by Zennie62 YouTube, then it is automatically uploaded to and formatted automatically at the Oakland News Now site and Zennie62-created and owned social media pages. The overall objective here, on top of our is smartphone-enabled, real-time, on the scene reporting of news, interviews, observations, and happenings anywhere in the World and within seconds and not hours – is the use of the existing YouTube social graph on any subject in the World. Now, news is reported with a smartphone and also by promoting current content on YouTube: no heavy and expensive cameras or even a laptop are necessary, or having a camera crew to shoot what is already on YouTube. The secondary objective is faster, and very inexpensive media content news production and distribution. We have found there is a disconnect between post length and time to product and revenue generated. With this, the problem is far less, though by no means solved. Zennie62Media is constantly working to improve the system network coding and seeks interested content and media technology partners.
