North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper and members from North Carolina Emergency Management are giving an update on winter storm preparations statewide on Thursday, Jan. 20. A winter storm is expected to bring snow, sleet and ice to the Carolinas Friday, with the North Carolina coast and Outer Banks expected to see heavy snow and nor’easter conditions.
Up to a half-inch of ice is possible in eastern North Carolina, with heavy snow expected from Rockingham up to Norfolk, Virginia through Sunday.

The Carolinas are bracing for another winter storm that could bring sleet and snow to the Charlotte area for the second time in a week with possible nor’easter conditions along the Carolina coastline.
A Winter Weather Advisory is currently in effect for areas east of Charlotte, including Cabarrus, Stanly and Union counties in North Carolina. This includes the cities and towns of Albemarle, Concord, Kannapolis, Monroe and Waxhaw. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for Chester, Chesterfield and Lancaster counties in South Carolina. That includes the cities and towns of Cheraw, Chester, Chesterfield and Lancaster.
A Winter Storm Watch is in effect for the South Carolina coast, including Charleston. An Ice Storm Warning is in effect for North Carolina’s southern coast, including Brunswick, Carteret, New Hanover, Onslow and Pender counties. Areas east of Raleigh, including Greenville, Kinston and New Bern are included in those watches and warnings.
Gov. Roy Cooper declared a state of emergency Wednesday ahead of the storm, as did South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster. Those declarations give both states the ability to mobilize more resources to areas impacted by the storm. #NCwx #snow #winterstorm

Note from Zennie62Media and OaklandNewsNow.com : this video-blog post demonstrates the full and live operation of the latest updated version of an experimental Zennie62Media , Inc. mobile media video-blogging system network that was launched June 2018. This is a major part of Zennie62Media , Inc.’s new and innovative approach to the production of news media. What we call “The Third Wave of Media”. The uploaded video is from a YouTube channel. When the video is “liked” by Zennie62 YouTube, then it is automatically uploaded to and formatted automatically at the Oakland News Now site and Zennie62-created and owned social media pages. The overall objective here, on top of our is smartphone-enabled, real-time, on the scene reporting of news, interviews, observations, and happenings anywhere in the World and within seconds and not hours – is the use of the existing YouTube social graph on any subject in the World. Now, news is reported with a smartphone and also by promoting current content on YouTube: no heavy and expensive cameras or even a laptop are necessary, or having a camera crew to shoot what is already on YouTube. The secondary objective is faster, and very inexpensive media content news production and distribution. We have found there is a disconnect between post length and time to product and revenue generated. With this, the problem is far less, though by no means solved. Zennie62Media is constantly working to improve the system network coding and seeks interested content and media technology partners.
