ONN – NFL Network’s Mike Silver Calls Out “Travesty” Of Teams Avoiding Colin Kaepernick
From Kyle Allen to Matt Barkley, a spate of NFL teams have called on backups to fill in for veterans who are not playing due to injury. But not one organization has dared even raise the name of Colin Kaepernick.
That pattern has extended to the NFL Network itself. One established NFL Network reporter once told me they could not talk about Colin Kaepernick. The 900-pound gorilla in the room is Colin Kaepernick because of the National Anthem controversy, and the lingering racism that surrounds it.
My long-time friend and Cal classmate Mike Silver broke that long log jam just 20 minutes ago on The Aftermath show on the NFL Network. Silver did not mince words in calling out the “travesty” of teams deliberately avoiding signing Colin Kaepernick. “And we all know why, ” the Golden Bear said.
That’s Mike Silver maintaining the long Cal tradition of dealing with the reality of the ignorance of racism, front and center.
Hopefully, one NFL team, and all it takes is one, will sign Kaepernick.
Meanwhile, GO BEARS, Mike Silver!
Stay tuned.
Oakland News Now Note: this video-blog post demonstrates the full and live operation of the latest version of an experimental Zennie62Media mobile media video-blogging system network. This is a major part of our new approach to the production of news media. The uploaded video is from a vlogger with the Zennie62 on YouTube Partner Channel, then uploaded to and formatted automatically at the Oakland News Now site and Zennie62-owned social media pages. The overall objective is smartphone-enabled, real-time, on the scene reporting of news, interviews, observations, and happenings anywhere in the World and within seconds and not hours. The secondary objective is faster, and very inexpensive media production and distribution. We have found there is a disconnect between post length and time to product and revenue generated. With this, the problem is far less, though by no means solved. Zennie62Media is constantly working to improve the system network coding and also seek interested content and media technology partners.
