Now Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf And Mom With Zennie Abraham In Photo From 1998 Christmas Party

This photo was sent to me by Libby’s Mom, just a few days ago, and who gave me permission to share it as a vlog. If my memory is good, the picture comes from the 1998 Christmas Party Libby’s Mom and her husband Bob Schock threw. Man, those affairs were a freaking blast.

I had hair then, and wire-frame glasses, and a mustache, and worked for Oakland Mayor Elihu Harris as his economic advisor (Elihu hired me in 1995 and at the behest of his then-Chief of Staff, later Oakland District 7 Councilmember, Larry Reid). I shaved all of that off after our Super Bowl: Oakland project, which I was in charge of, and out of 11 cities boiled down to a competition between Jacksonville, Miami, and Oakland. Jacksonville won on the 3rd ballot.

After that I shaved my hair off because Elihu’s predecessor Jerry Brown tried to fire me for accusing him of being racist (something he has since apologized about and is, in itself, a long story). I simply told his staff that he could not fire me because I quit. I wrote a press release announcing my decision, and the rest is history. I did maintain a great relationship with the National Football League, in the process and that lasts to this day.

Meanwhile Libby was just out of law school, then, if memory serves. Officially, I met her parents on the Saturday that Oakland Sharing The Vision was held in 1991, and really after the event, at the watering hole then called The Golden Bear, and is now called Room 389, on Grand Avenue in Oakland. In 2009, I told her with her folks present that she should run for Mayor of Oakland. In 2010, she ran for Oakland City Council District 4, instead, and won. Then she ran for Mayor of Oakland in 2014, and the rest is history.

Stay tuned.

Note from Zennie62Media’s Zennie62 YouTube and Oakland News Now Today Blog SF Bay Area: this video-blog post demonstrates the full and live operation of the latest updated version of an experimental Zennie62Media , Inc. mobile media video-blogging system network that was launched June 2018. This is a major part of Zennie62Media , Inc.’s new and innovative approach to the production of news media. What we call “The Third Wave of Media”. The uploaded video is from a vlogger with the Zennie62 on YouTube Partner Channel, then uploaded to and formatted automatically at the Oakland News Now site and Zennie62-created and owned social media pages. The overall objective is smartphone-enabled, real-time, on the scene reporting of news, interviews, observations, and happenings anywhere in the World and within seconds and not hours. Now, news is reported with a smartphone: no heavy and expensive cameras or even a laptop are necessary. The secondary objective is faster, and very inexpensive media content news production and distribution. We have found there is a disconnect between post length and time to product and revenue generated. With this, the problem is far less, though by no means solved. Zennie62Media is constantly working to improve the system network coding and seeks interested content and media technology partners.
