Calling all teen poets, visual artists, and writers in Oakland!
Greer Nakadegawa-Lee (@greer.nl), Oakland’s 2020 @youthpoetlaureate, is curating a collection of teen creative work for Oakland Public Library’s website and a zine.
Greer says: “Even if you are new to writing and art, we’d love to hear from you.
These two prompts [“What makes you feel powerful?” and “What’s something that’s missing?”] are an invitation for you to create something new this summer.
Responses can be poems, visual art, or flash fiction (1 page short stories).”
Send your responses to [email protected], post them on Instagram with the hashtag #oyplprompt, or bring/send your hard copies to any Oakland Public Library addressed to Sharon in the Main Library TeenZone.
Include your name, age, and a place you’d like us to link you to (e.g., social media, personal website, etc.).
