Oakland Fireworks update: Oakland 4th Of July Fireworks Bring High Commentary From Instagramer
The Oakland Athletics do fireworks better than any other sports team in the San Francisco Bay Area. The Oakland A’s seem to find an excuse to shoot off fireworks: a big win, the weekend, Star Wars, Beyonce visits (I’m kinda kidding), Marshawn Lynch having a hot dog (kidding, again), Zennie Abraham’s birth August 4th (well, it looks like it could be for me) and pretty much what’s one would expect, the Fourth Of July , in this case, circa 2018.
Thousands turned out on Tuesday and Wednesday night, watched the A’s win, both nights (6 to 2 Tuesday, and 4 to 2 for July 4th), and then made the standard seal-like migration from their seats to the baseball diamond to get into seating position to watch the fireworks.
The A’s do this fireworks thing so often, they have a special webpage for the schedule. Here’s that slate:
Patriotic Fireworks on Tuesday, July 3
’80s Fireworks on Friday, July 20
Fireworks on Saturday, August 4
Fireworks on Saturday, September 1
Fireworks on Saturday, September 22
And the A’s say that each night has a special musical theme that goes with it. That be the case, I have a special musical request for my birthday, August 4th.
This is a total dream request the A’s will probably never see, or never do. Play music from my playlist I call “Zennie Abraham’s America.” Here’s the selections for my birthday:
1. Don McLean – American Pie
2. Stevie Wonder – Signed, Sealed, Delivered
3. Yes – Owner Of The Lonely Heart
4. Thriller – Michael Jackson
5. Rapper’s Delight – Sugar Hill Gang
6. Star Trek Theme – Alexander Courage
7. Going The Distance (Rocky) – Bill Conti
8. Star Wars Theme – John Williams
10. Gimme Shelter – Rolling Stones
Well, like I said, one can dream.
Stay tuned.
