OAKLAND, CA – Tomorrow, May 7th there will be a Special Oakland City Council Budget Meeting for the Mayor to present her proposed budget (Link to Agenda) which begins at 4:00PM. There will also be a Council Meeting beginning at 5:30PM. (Link to Agenda)
On the agenda for the 5:30PM Council Meeting President Kaplan has a ceremonial item honoring our City Clerk’s office for the 50th Anniversary of Municipal Clerk’s Week. (Link to Item) President Kaplan is grateful for the work she does and is happy to have authored a public thank you to Ms. Simmons and her staff.
Kaplan has also introduced a Resolution recognizing the 23rd Annual Affordable Housing Week. (Link to Item) She has been working to assure our unhoused and at-risk residents are in the forefront of our priorities and Affordable Housing Week is another opportunity to shine a light on this crisis.
The ordinance change for ceiling heights to the State standard of 7 feet will have a public hearing. (Link to Item) It is important to continue to make it easier for people to renovate basements to increase our stock of livable space.
Finally, on Tuesday President Kaplan’s Resolution asking the State to waive the OUSD debt created when OUSD was under state control will be heard. (Link to Item)
