ONN – Oakland Elections 2020, City Council, OUSD School Board, Who Qualilfied For The Ballot, Who Didn’t

The Oakland Election 2020 Season now goes into full gear, as all of the signatures for the would-be candidates have been submitted and counted. The updated list, as of Monday, August 10th, 2020, is below. In it, we can see that the overall surprise is that, unlike 2018, no race is without a challenge between at least two people. In other words, this time, Oakland City Attorney Barbara Parker has a challenger: Elias Ferran.

In the Oakland City Council District 7 Race, a once-crowded field has been reduced to just three: Bishop Bob Jackson, Treva Reid, and Marchon Tatmon.

In the Oakland City Council District 3 Race, the incumbent Councilmember Lynette Gibson McElhaney has five other challengers, all who have qualified – a stunning reversal of 2016, when seven candidates were cut down to just two: Councilmember Gibson McElhaney and Noni Session.

In the Oakland City Council District 5 Race, Noel Gallo has a real challenge from two well-known Oaklanders, Richard S. Raya and Zoe Lopez Meraz.

And in the Oakland City Council District 1 Race, we see that Councilmember Dan Kalb is facing a battle with Tri M Ngo, and Stephanie J. Dominguez Walton.

Finally, the Oakland City Council At-Large Race has Oakland City Council President Rebecca Kaplan against newcomer but Mayor-Schaaf-backed Derreck B. Johnson, and long-timer Nancy S. Sidebotham.

Note from Zennie62Media and Oakland News Now: this video-blog post demonstrates the full and live operation of the latest updated version of an experimental Zennie62Media , Inc. mobile media video-blogging system network that was launched June 2018. This is a major part of Zennie62Media , Inc.’s new and innovative approach to the production of news media. What we call “The Third Wave of Media”. The uploaded video is from a vlogger with the Zennie62 on YouTube Partner Channel, then uploaded to and formatted automatically at the Oakland News Now site and Zennie62-created and owned social media pages. The overall objective is smartphone-enabled, real-time, on the scene reporting of news, interviews, observations, and happenings anywhere in the World and within seconds and not hours. Now, news is reported with a smartphone: no heavy and expensive cameras or even a laptop are necessary. The secondary objective is faster, and very inexpensive media content news production and distribution. We have found there is a disconnect between post length and time to product and revenue generated. With this, the problem is far less, though by no means solved. Zennie62Media is constantly working to improve the system network coding and seeks interested content and media technology partners.
