Oakland Homeless Man Wandering Into Highland Park Homes Needs The Assistance of Authorities As Soon As Possible

This man is the focus of a number of Nextdoor posts and needs help. He is walking onto properties and trying to walk into homes and winds up getting into arguments with people.

A person’s home is their castle. There should be understanding and action here. His actions trigger others to act to protect themselves. Oakland Police don’t have the resources to help here and we do not have a well-financed alternative organization to call. So what is a resident to do?

This is not good.

What the poster reported on Nextdoor was scary:

TRESPASSING/STEALING ON PROPERTY TWICE IN ONE DAY. Be on the look out. This guy was chased off by my husband earlier in the afternoon and this is the video of him returning again at about 1:30am. Luckily our cameras alerted us and we physically chased him off. He walked right through our front gate. Person 1 Hair: Black Top: Blue/red/white hoodie Bottom: Jeans Shoes: Black and white Age: 30’s-40’s Sex: Male Race: African American Physical Build: 5’8”-5’10”

We were the victims in this case. It’s absurd to me that anyone would suggest we were the aggressors. If you feel like I should have “helped” someone who was actively committing a crime I question your morals. It’s easy to judge on a snip of a video. Keep your victim blaming comments to yourself. WE WERE THE VICTIMS.

THIS WAS SECOND TIME TRESPASSING SAME DAY. This was 1:30am. He was chased off earlier in the afternoon by my husband and came back at 1:30am when cameras alerted us. He threatened to shoot my husband earlier. POLICE WERE CALLED.

UPDATE:  The poster of the incident received some pushback, and here’s an example:

510-999-9MH1 is a mental health hotline for this individual who’s been aimlessly wandering around (harming no one) around our neighborhood for over a week. It is more helpful than posting racial demographics online.

In defense of the poster, having someone invade your home space automatically puts you in defense mode.  There’s no way to stop that feeling. The poster wrote:

Harming no one? It’s been reported by multiple neighbors he’s trespassed on their property. We now have a gun threat from him. Police were called. “Harming no one” until it’s too late smh ??‍♀️

But the man can be heard saying he simply wants some place to stay.  He needs help and the Oakland City Council can use AB 464, Mullin, Enhanced Infrastructure Financing Districts,  to form a district-powered financing plan and program to stop this problem.  Hiring police officers at a time when no one wants the job (at least that I can see) is a bad idea.

This is also something that just having extra police officers on the force will not cure – although we need more of them. The man is out there because the system has failed him. We need to improve the system.

Stay tuned.

Note from Zennie62Media’s Zennie62 YouTube and Oakland News Now Today Blog SF Bay Area: this video-blog post demonstrates the full and live operation of the latest updated version of an experimental Zennie62Media , Inc. mobile media video-blogging system network that was launched June 2018. This is a major part of Zennie62Media , Inc.’s new and innovative approach to the production of news media. What we call “The Third Wave of Media”. The uploaded video is from a vlogger with the Zennie62 on YouTube Partner Channel, then uploaded to and formatted automatically at the Oakland News Now site and Zennie62-created and owned social media pages. The overall objective is smartphone-enabled, real-time, on the scene reporting of news, interviews, observations, and happenings anywhere in the World and within seconds and not hours. Now, news is reported with a smartphone: no heavy and expensive cameras or even a laptop are necessary. The secondary objective is faster, and very inexpensive media content news production and distribution. We have found there is a disconnect between post length and time to product and revenue generated. With this, the problem is far less, though by no means solved. Zennie62Media is constantly working to improve the system network coding and seeks interested content and media technology partners.
