Oakland middle schools take on San Francisco middle schools as per this press release sent to Zennie62Media.
Oakland, CA – Students from three Oakland middle schools will be taking part in the first-ever Future Trailblazer Challenge, hosted by Salesforce.org on Thursday, May 30. The three schools competing are West Oakland MS, Roosevelt MS and Bret Harte MS. Students from these schools will be facing off with students from four schools in San Francisco in the “Shark Tank” style competition. The judges will include Salesforce’s co-founder Parker Harris and Chief Philanthropy Officer Ebony Frelix Beckwith.
Salesforce.org is hosting the inaugural Future Trailblazer Challenge, in which middle school computer science students from public schools in the San Francisco and Oakland school districts are using coding curriculum to build solutions that address specific topical goals and solve the area’s most pressing challenges. The student teams have each designed to prototype a solution to a selected United Nations (UN) sustainable development goal, such as zero hunger, quality education or climate action.
The winning school will be announced in real time, and that school will win its very own Makerspace. Media is welcome to join this exciting event.
