Oakland News Now – Oakland Police Car For Brest Cancer Awareness.
This Oakland Police Car, adorned in pink, was sitting in front of Oakland City Hall, this past Monday.
There were no media around the vehicle and just four Oakland Police Officers, so I went over, introduced myself, and met Chrisiti Amaral who founded and heads the OPD Pink Patch Project.
The Pink Patch Project is a regional effort that brings awareness to brest cancer research.
The Pink Patch Project was established last year, she said, and accelerated with the leadership of Oakland Police Chief Ann Kirkpatrick. Officer Amaral used Southern California’s Irwindale City Police Department, which started the project in 2015, as the model for the Oakland and SF Bay Area Pink Patch Project.
Police officers around the Bay Area have worn and can wear the Pink Patch. You can too. Just email her at [email protected] to buy one.
Stay tuned.
