Dear Zennie Abraham,
During the week of July19-July25, 2 lives were lost to violence. The Oakland Police Department (OPD) has investigated 75 homicides this year, compared to 45 this time last year.
For the week, there were 49 instances of gunfire. OPD officers recovered 19 firearms for a total of 683 this year. There were 29 robberies and 1 carjacking.
We must come together as a city to end the violence in our community. If you see something, say something.!!
OPD encourages residents and business owners to consider installing security cameras as well as alarms. These technologies can both deter crime and help solve crimes after they occur.
