ONN – Oakland Police Safely Take Armed Sleeping Driver Into Custody At 100 Block Of East 12th Street
The Oakland Police sent this press release via email to Zennie62Media:
Driver safely taken into custody and two firearms recovered-100 block of East 12th Street
On August 6, 2020, at 8:10 AM, in the 100 block of East 12th Street, Falck ambulance personnel flagged down Oakland Patrol Officers and advised them of a vehicle stopped in the roadway, and that the driver who was the sole occupant, was asleep with a firearm near his lap in plain view.
Officers attempted to establish communication with the non-responsive driver by using their patrol vehicle PA system and sounding the vehicles sirens/horn. All efforts to wake the driver did not have an effect. The armored vehicle responded as an added resource to protect our community in the immediate area and our officers.
Further attempts were made to awaken the driver. Ultimately, the driver awoke and surrendered to police. The driver was safely taken into custody. Officers recovered two firearms.
The Oakland Police Department would like to thank you Falck personnel. OPD continues our efforts to increase public safety in our community and reduce illegal possession of firearms.
Stay tuned.
This case is being prepared by investigators and will be presented to the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office for review and charging. Once the case has been charged, the driver’s name will be released.
Note from Zennie62Media and Oakland News Now: this video-blog post demonstrates the full and live operation of the latest updated version of an experimental Zennie62Media , Inc. mobile media video-blogging system network that was launched June 2018. This is a major part of Zennie62Media , Inc.’s new and innovative approach to the production of news media. What we call “The Third Wave of Media”. The uploaded video is from a vlogger with the Zennie62 on YouTube Partner Channel, then uploaded to and formatted automatically at the Oakland News Now site and Zennie62-created and owned social media pages. The overall objective is smartphone-enabled, real-time, on the scene reporting of news, interviews, observations, and happenings anywhere in the World and within seconds and not hours. Now, news is reported with a smartphone: no heavy and expensive cameras or even a laptop are necessary. The secondary objective is faster, and very inexpensive media content news production and distribution. We have found there is a disconnect between post length and time to product and revenue generated. With this, the problem is far less, though by no means solved. Zennie62Media is constantly working to improve the system network coding and seeks interested content and media technology partners.
