This is an incredible and historic sponsorship deal in NFL and sports history. The Oakland Raiders and Legends are to be congratulated for actively fighting through the racism that would cause other rights holders to over-look the Indian Nation as a potential purchaser of an offering. It’s fitting that the event announcing the partnership was done on Columbus Day.
Take note that San Manuel Casino is a “founding partner” and not a sponsor. That indicates a deal valued at $100 million, to start, or about $10 million over 10 years, to perhaps as much as $200 million, or about $20 million over 10 years. The conservative bet is that this is at the $100 million range.
This brings the Raiders list of “founding partners” to six (The Reyes Coca-Cola Deal is said to be a regular sponsorship by the PR firm representing the company). Thus, if one assumes that each of the “founding partners” represents a minimum $100 investment, then the Raiders are at $600 million for that category, and perhaps $700 million total. But, considering that the Allegiant Airlines deal, alone, is said to be at $400 million, then the Raiders are close to the $1 billion sponsorship mark, at $900 million.
Part of that $900 million has to go to pay back the Bank Of America $600 million line of credit, so that leaves the Raiders with an estimated net of $300 million, at this point. But, if the reality is that just four of the deals are actual “founding partners”, and not six (the Raiders list seven), since several press releases don’t call deals for Reyes, then the $300 million net shrinks to perhaps $100 million. In either case, the Raiders need at least two more “founding partners” deals to give themselves a good fiscal return.

San Manuel and the Raiders celebrated their new partnership in Las Vegas on Monday, October 14th. The private event was attended by members of the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians, San Manuel Executives, Raiders Executives, and Raiders Alumnus Leo Gray.
San Manuel proudly supports nine other professional sports teams across the NFL, NHL, MLB and MLS.
