Dear Neighbors,
Alas, we have six qualified candidates running for just one Oakland City Council seat in District 4.
I especially wish the “Women’s Leadership Slate” of Pam Harris, Nayeli Maxson and Sheng Thao were running for different seats. Their efforts combined would definitely improve city services. Candidate Sheng Thao, however, is my first choice.
Thao alone has the breadth and depth in understanding how City Hall functions, who runs it and how issues get resolved. She’s worked in the at-large City Council member’s office the last five years and, as current chief of staff, she problem-solves daily with key city personnel, elected leaders and departments such as police, fire and sewer.
She’s familiar with budgets and facilitates cooperation among council members.
As a single mom from a close Hmong family, she understands the needs of families in seeking quality schools and user-friendly facilities. Sheng Thao will add a dynamic voice to our government.
Sincerely,
Denise Bostrom
SHENG THAO is also endorsed by East Bay Express, East Bay Times, District Attorney Nancy O’Malley, Assemblymember Rob Bonta, Berkeley Mayor Jesse Arreguin, Oakland Firefighters, California Nurses, Sierra Club, Alameda Labor Council, Teamsters Joint Council 7, League of Conservation Voters of East Bay, Black Young Democrats of the East Bay, and many more.
