OAKLAND, CA – Shortly, we will be voting into office the next Oakland District 4 city council member. (Our neighborhood is in District 4). I have personally met several candidates in order to learn more about them and how they would represent us. I am voting for Sheng Thao as my first choice. Here is why:
Sheng Thao (her website is shengforoakland.com ) is a graduate of U.C. Berkeley and has committed to put the interests of us, her constituents, first. She has an impressive list of endorsements from elected officials in Oakland and in the Alameda County region who are familiar with her work. The Sierra Club and major labor unions including nurses and firefighters have endorsed her. Working in the at-large city council person’s office for the last five years, including currently as the Chief of Staff, Sheng knows how City Hall functions and how to get things done. She has worked on Oakland’s budget and other matters, successfully obtaining buy-in from the rest of the city council. Many neighbors and I met with Sheng at a house meeting in our neighborhood, and learned that she knows the issues that impact our safety, homes, and quality of life. Sheng demonstrated extensive knowledge about Oakland police services, and fire prevention, sewer, and street maintenance. Sheng can start from day one to serve the residents and many businesses in District 4. She would make an outstanding, dedicated addition to the Oakland City Council as representatives for our District 4, and I urge you to join me in voting for her.
Sincerely,
John Prestianni
SHENG THAO is also endorsed by East Bay Express, East Bay Times, District Attorney Nancy O’Malley, Assemblymember Rob Bonta, Berkeley Mayor Jesse Arreguin, Oakland Firefighters, California Nurses, Sierra Club, Alameda Labor Council, Teamsters Joint Council 7, League of Conservation Voters of East Bay, Black Young Democrats of the East Bay, and many more.
