OUSD Teams up with Office Depot to Provide Backpacks and School Supplies to Students at East Oakland Pride Elementary School
Superintendent Kyla Johnson-Trammell to Visit the All-Day Giveaway to Help Honor Teacher as Winner of All-Star Teacher Award
Oakland – Office Depot will be at East Oakland Pride Elementary School for much of the day on Thursday, August 6, to make sure the students have the supplies they need to start the new school year. Office depot is handing out backpacks filled with school supplies to students as they arrive in a drive through distribution event.
The company is ready to hand out 875 backpacks filled with notebooks, notecards, highlighters, pens, pencils and more. Each backpack will also include a $20 Office Depot® OfficeMax® merchandise card for parents to purchase additional supplies for their child this school year. Another 250 backpacks will be donated to The Californians Dedicated to Education Foundation.
One outstanding teacher from East Oakland Pride Elementary School will also be surprised as an “All-Star Teacher” by school principal Michelle Grant, and will receive new furniture, teaching supplies, technology and tech services from Office Depot, valued at more $1,500. Superintendent Kyla Johnson-Trammell (seen above at a previous backpack giveaway) will visit the school to help honor the winner of the All-Star Teacher award.
