During the first few months of the school year, the District has been mostly focused on ensuring that students have computers and quality internet access. Now it’s the teachers’ turn. With the arrival of the Surface Pro Laptops that were purchased using CARES funding, the Oakland Unified School District (OUSD) has begun distribution of devices to classroom teachers. Over the last couple weeks, district staff have been working to ensure that teachers have better technology to facilitate their instruction. Teachers are receiving:

Surface Laptop 3
Additional Monitor and cables
Stylus
Mouse
Mouse Pad

Teachers and administrative site staff at about 70 schools have already received upgraded technology, and in the next week, the rest of the schools will have distribution events for staff. (Photos show substitute teachers and instructional aides receiving technology this week.)

On Friday, December 11, two co-located schools will distribute technology. New Highland Academy and Rise Community School are holding their staff device distribution events on Friday afternoon, and the media is invited.
