OUSD Oakland School Board Gets Misty Cross Tongue-Lashing Over COVID-19 Handling
This vlog is based on two videos at cbgord on YouTube made from the August 11th 2021 Oakland Unified School District Board of Directors meeting.
The meeting was supposed to be a coronation of OUSD Superintendent Kyla Johnson-Trammell but that was overridden by concerned parents, fearful that the school district’s lax COVID-19 policy would cause their kids to be infected by the dangerous virus and its variants.

The few dozen in-person attendees and hundreds more on Zoom were already outraged at this school district’s failure to provide any plan for a safe in-person opening of Oakland’s public schools in 2020-21, but then came the last straw: after limiting each member of the public to one minute to express their concerns about the lack of ventilation, testing, social distancing or clear information regarding the safety of their children Board President Shanthi Gonzalez gave each of the board members three minutes each to sing the praises of Superintendent Kyla Johnson-Trammell before rubber stamping yet another one-year extension of her $300,000+/year contract, complete with a paid 3-month sabbatical starting in April of this school year! OUSD parent (and Moms4Housing organizer) Misty Cross spoke out.
The video has considerable shake as the original camera person was moving around.
