OUSD Schools to Celebrate Halloween with Students and Staff in Costume and Many Events Planned, Including Annual Michael Jackson Thriller Dance
Oakland, CA – As is the case every Halloween, thousands of OUSD students will be in school on Thursday, October 31 in full costume, celebrating the holiday. In many cases, they will be in classes with teachers in costume. Other staff will assuredly be dressed up, as well.
Many OUSD schools have specific plans to help students enjoy the day, such as United Nation Preschool that has a Halloween Parade at 10:30 a.m. and Bridges Academy at Melrose, which is holding a Halloween Fair
at 12:30 p.m.
One of the biggest OUSD events planned for the day is also quite the spectacle. Laurel Elementary School has a Halloween Parade, highlighted by the 8th Annual Thriller Dance Performance.
The Laurel Lions, ages 4-11 years old, have been practicing the dance for the past six weeks, and all of them will be in costume as zombies as they perform Michael Jackson’s famous Thriller Dance. This event always attracts large crowds of families and other spectators.
Media is welcome to cover all OUSD Halloween events.
