ONN – Peggy Lipton Of The Mod Squad, Quincy Jones’ Wife, Dead At 72
A sad bit of news on Mother’s Day: Peggy Lipton, who gained fame as one of the stars of the TV Show “Mod Squad”, and was married to musical genius Quincy Jones, as well as started in “Twin Peaks”, died at what today is the young age of 72.
According to the LA Times, Lipton died after a battle with cancer.
According to the USA Today on Twitter, the news of Lipton’s passing was confirmed by her two daughters Kidada and actress/director Rashida Jones, from Lipton’s marriage to Quincy Jones.
“She made her journey peacefully with her daughters and nieces by her side,” Lipton’s daughters said in a statement to The Times. “We feel so lucky for every moment we spent with her.”
The outpouring of emotions on social media included a tweet from actress Helen Hunt, who wrote “She’s the one I always wanted to be.”
I never missed an episode of “The Mod Squad”, and Peggy was Julie Barnes, the symbol of the liberated woman of the late 60’s.
